Vehicle manufacturer plates were initially issued in the early 1900s - see the early plates
here.
Plates are listed here in serial number order.

list of New Jersey VEHICLE MFR plate codes.
Each combination (DTM 10, DTM 11, etc) is assigned to a manufacturer; some companies have several combinations.
The manufacturer names shown below are from observations on the road, and from Joe's list.

Vehicle manufacturer plates appeared again in the early 1960s using the DTM prefix - 1962 is the earliest one known.
