SEQUENTIAL ISSUES
Starting in 2002, after the DLA-DZZ prefixes were exhausted, plates with a DLx suffix started appearing.
DLA through DLF are on the Avery base; DLL and higher are on the 3M2 base.
At this point it became possible to track sequential issues by suffix.

The prefixes are out of range, but apparently that isn't so important anymore.

SEQUENTIAL ISSUES
High number DLZ plates (on the helix base) have different spacing.
The car number is centered and the elements are widely spaced.
51-DLZ (above) has normal spacing ... 65-DLZ has wide spacing.

The first known instances of the 00-DLAoo pattern were seen in 2012 - with and without the NJ map.
This will become the standard numbering pattern starting in 2014 with the flat plates.
