Starting in 2009, new inspection stickers were issued for 2011 expiration.
The design changed - the month number went back to its pre-2002 square format, and the year numbers are bigger and they now flank the month number.
The vehicle information is no longer printed anywhere on the sticker.

On the 2013 stickers, a row of stars (anywhere from 1 to 6) is printed under the year numbers.
I found out recently that the stars correspond to the serial number, in blocks of 400000 (2013) and then 500000 (2014 onward).
The order of the star patterns changes frequently, the pattern will remain the same for either one or two years, then it will change.
The stars are printed on the sticker the same time as the barcode and serial number - the barcode always starts directly under the first star.

A "holographic strip" has been added to the bottom part of the 2014 stickers. It says "SECURE" or "GENIUNE" - depending on which way you look at it.

In 2010, the state extended the initial inspection period for new vehicles from 4 years to 5 years.
"1-YEAR EXTENSION" stickers were distributed to owners of all cars which are model-year 2007 and newer.
The extensions were only supposed to be used with new car dealer stickers, but they were also used in interesting combinations with passenger stickers - a few are shown here.
