NEW CAR DEALER STICKERS

From the 1970's to 1993, new cars purchased from dealers got special stickers which allowed 2 years until inspection was due.
Every sticker had 5 available years, and the month and year of expiration were punched out on the sticker.

This sticker is a hybrid - 11/92 big month/year numbers over an 1988/1993 punchout sticker.

The punchout stickers were discontinued in favor of the current type with the month and year finally large enough to read.
The first of these stickers may have appeared with 1994 expirations, although '92 and '93 are possible - see above !

Starting Jan 1, 2003, the initial inspection period for new cars was changed from 2 years to 4 years.
This was also applied retroactively to cars due inspection in 2003 and 2004, so stickers were issued to extend their inspection dates to 2005 and 2006.

7/2014 was the last "natural" 2014 sticker issued.
As of Augugst 1, 2010, the new car inspection period was increased to 5 years.

As with any year-of-validity change, extension stickers were issued again.
This time, they were not dated, and they were meant to be used with new car dealer stickers from 2010 to 2014.
